Yemen, France discussed on Wednesday cooperation areas in fighting on piracy and terrorism.
Chief of General Staff Ahmed al-Ashwal discussed with commander of French Forces in Djibouti Thierry Caspar Fille-Lambie several issues of joint cooperation between the Yemeni armed forces and French Forces based in Djibouti in training and exchanging expertise.On a related context, a three-day Yemeni-French naval exercise began on Tuesday in the territorial waters in the Gulf of Aden.The exercise aims to test the Yemeni coastguard's abilities in the light of its training plan for this year that includes intercepting, boarding and inspecting suspected ships.It also includes safeguarding the waterways, offering help for ships passing along them that send distress signals and fighting maritime piracy, smuggling and terrorism.Deputy Director of the Aden-based Coastguard Abdul Rahman Mousa said the joint exercise with the French warship 'DAG' comes within mutual cooperation between the two counties on fighting terrorism, piracy and boosting the regional security.
