UNICEF condemns Houthi's occupation of schools in Saada

UNICEF voiced on Thursday its concerns about al-Houthi's occupation of some schools in Saada and depriving children from education.
The GPC-run almotamar website said according to a press release from UNICEF, that the organization is deeply concerned about reports that schools in the northern governorate of Saada were occupied by armed Houthi men, and that children are denied their right to education.
Using Schools for military or inappropriate political purposes is a violation of children's rights and of international humanitarian law. Children must be allowed to resume their schooling immediately.UNICEF has called upon all parties throughout the country to ensure the right to quality education for every child, saying that depriving children from this right is detrimental to their well-being and to their country’s future.The UNICEF concerns, after a teacher has been shot dead by a Houthi loyalist in a school at al-Zahir district in Jawf governorate due to refusing applying al-Houthis activities in the school.April 13, al-Houthis have attacked al-Whida school in Mijz district, Saada. The attack resulted in killing the school guard and on pro-Houthi.Earlier, al-Houthi loyalists have stormed some governmental buildings, schools and hospitals, and looted its equipments and turning the building into strongholds. That makes the national committee overseeing the implementation of the six-term ceasefire deal to suspend its works in protest against al-Houthis's violations to the ceasefire deal.
