At the opening session Governor of Hadramout Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, stated that local council elections in the Governorate and District come to implement the directives of President Ali Abdullah Saleh..
It comes from his political leadership in the direction of expanding the powers of bodies of local councils and enhance their role in the management of local affairs, pointing out that this election is an opportunity to assess the performance of the Governing bodies of local councils from the reality of responsibility, thus strengthening its role and achieve more successes to meet the needs and aspirations of development. The number of members of
the oversight committees on the field of local elections in the province
of Hadramout and its departments, about 96 members.
