2 mln economic empowerment draft signed

The draft of Gender and Economic Empowerment Project funded by the UNDP with a total cost of $2 million was signed on Tuesday in Hadramout province.
The project aims at contributing to solving challenges which face poverty cases and unemployment among people, especially women and youth aged between 18- 25.
The project would be implemented in four distracts in the Valley and Desert in order to include other districts and provinces.According to the project draft, the UNDP will offer $2 million to contribute to supporting the economic and social empowerment for women and youth in order to develop their livelihood.The project creates a comprehensive strategy focusing on local societies to support women and youth for getting access to productive resources and continuous income.Deputy of Hadhramout province for the Valley and Desert Affairs Omaier Mubarak confirmed that the local authority sets priorities for its tasks and the issue of improving the situation of women and youth because of their important role in the development process.For her part, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations Amat Al-Alim Al-Sosw appreciated efforts done during the project preparation.She affirmed the UNDP's readiness to enhance the local authority abilities to carry out their duties in a perfect way.
