CSO launches TOT course for surveying child labor

The Central Statistics Organization (CSO) launched here on Saturday a training course for Training of Trainers (TOT) on the stage of actual survey for child labor 2009-2010 The two-day course aims at unifying concepts, terms and information in addition to studying the survey field guideline.In the opening, CSO Chairman Amin Muhi al-Deen affirmed the importance of the training and its role in assisting trainers to understand the survey documents and to be transferred through them to the field researchers.Muhi al-Deen highlighted the importance of the child labor survey 2009-2010 in providing data, indicators on the status of employment and unemployment in general and child labor in particular, as well as other data and indicators on housing and education to help policymakers and decision-makers in preparing for the development plans and programs in various fields. He praised the support of the International Labor Organization (ILO), Social Fund for Development (SFD) and UNICEF to implement the survey, which is the first of its kind in Yemen.For his part, ILO adviser Mustapha Haki said the child labor is a problem found in all countries.To be reduced, all relevant government agencies are required to coordinate efforts to obtain information and facts reflecting the reality.It is worth to mention that about 22 participants from CSO, SFD, UNICEF and Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor.
