New system for water users In Shibam

About 100 water-using farmers in Alqarah and Jua'emah reigons in Shibam Directorate alongside a number of other farmers from Tareem diretorate witnessed the results of the use of modern irrigation systems and comparing it to the traditional irrigation and the size of the savings established in the amount of water used, ranging between 60 to 80%.
This took place in the first day of the agricultural field organized by the Field team of the community management project of water in Hadhramout and the field unity of thgroundwater and soil preservation project today in two private farms in Alqarah and Jae'mah in Shibam directorate in which the modern irrigation system was explained focusing on vegetable crops and lemon trees.
In the Field days Engineer Qaid ALkatheri Chairman of the Working Field for the community management of water pointed out that this meeting is a good opportunity to review and evaluate what has been applied on the ground for the use of modern irrigation systems and their positive returns in preserving water as well as to ease the efforts on Farmers to irrigate crops as well as the economic savings resulting from following these regulations.
For his part, Engineer Abu Bakr Aidid touched on that the modern irrigation systems are more advanced and sophisticated than irrigating with tubes which is considered the first step for the transition to modern irrigation, refering to the actions taken in installing the modern irrigation pipes in some explanatory fields .Emphasizing the willingness of the project to meet the needs of farmers for new pipes required in the new system.
Anumber of specialized engineers gave detailed explanation of the irrigation systems and their benefits and advantages which constitute factors that are encouraging to be followed in the agricultural process. The participants expressed their observations which reflected keenness to apply these regulations in irrigating all affilated areas.
