WHO regional director lands in Yemen for anti- Bilharzias campaign

The regional director of the World Health Organization Hussein Abdul Razzaq al-Jazaeri arrived Saturday in Yemen.
During the few-day official visit, al-Jazaeri will take part in the second anti-Bilharzias campaign in the country and pay visits to the camps of the refugees from the war in the far north.
Fighting the disease that may lead to cancer and liver illnesses is a WHO priority, he said, adding the campaign will cover as many contracted people as possible in the target areas.The first campaign targeted about 1.5 million people across the republic.
The WHO, along with the United Nations and the World Bank, provides funds and technical assistance to tackle or limit the number of the contracted to the lowest levels over the next five years, he said, adding the WB contributed about $ 25 million to the anti- Bilharzias efforts in Yemen.
