Chemist manages to remove harmful substances from Qat

Prof.Dr.Anwar Saeed Al-Shahwi,a professor of chemistry at Hadramout University, said that his research interests in taking away the harmful substances from the Qat in order to reduce the side effect of Qat has yielded impressive results in the possibility of separating the active substances from Qat and making them as medical stimulant drugs which do not cause addiction.
Prof Anwar said that the extracted substances can be exported to the other countries which looking for natural and safer alternative for energy drinks and also to treat some psychological problems.
"What we discovered today in Hadramout is considered to be a great leap for Yemen in terms of science, economic and the environment. The major scientific breakthrough will remove harmful effects of Qat and make it available in the market in abundance throughout the year with reasonable price" he told Hadramout Network Websites.
