Following efforts by the local authority leadership in Hadramawt, represented by Presidential Leadership Council member and Governor of Hadramawt, Mr. Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology announced today the resumption of flights at Al-Rayyan International Airport, starting Sunday morning (January 18), after the completion of rehabilitation work following its temporary closure due to recent events in the governorate.
The head of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, Captain Saleh bin Nahed, explained in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the decision to resume operations came after the completion of all technical work related to the rehabilitation of several airport facilities, ensuring full operational readiness, raising the level of air safety, and improving the quality of services provided to passengers and airlines. Bin Nahed noted that the technical and engineering teams worked diligently to complete the operational requirements according to approved standards, confirming the airport's readiness to receive flights. This will contribute to facilitating travel and stimulating economic and commercial activity in Hadramawt Governorate.
In his statement, the Chairman of the Authority expressed his gratitude to the political leadership and the government, to the Presidential Leadership Council member and Governor of Hadramawt, Mr. Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, to the leadership of the Ministry of Transport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and to all the technical and administrative staff who contributed to the resumption of airport operations and the return of regular flights.
For his part, the Governor of Hadramawt welcomed the resumption of operations at Al-Rayyan International Airport, considering this step a significant achievement that reflects the fruit of joint efforts and continuous coordination with the government, the Ministry of Transport, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, and airport staff. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the airport's operational readiness, providing the best possible services to passengers, meeting the needs of citizens, and strengthening Hadramawt's position as a vital air and economic gateway for the country.
