The activities of the first international scientific conference held by Seiyun University started today in the city of Sayoun, entitled: "Cognitive Development and Prospects for Construction and Development", in the presence of His Excellency the Undersecretary of Hadhramaut Governorate for Valley and Desert Affairs, Mr. Amer Saeed Al-Amri, His Excellency the President of the University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Ashour Al-Kathiri, the representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Najib Muhammad Saif, a member of the Shura Council, Sheikh Abdullah Saleh Al-Kathiri, the Commander of the First Military Region, Major General Saleh Muhammad Al-Jaamlani, the governorate's agents, the presidents and representatives of the universities of Shabwa, Saba and Al-Mahrah regions, the University of Moderation, the University of the Holy Quran, the vice presidents of the university and the secretary-general, the deans of colleges, the general managers of the executive offices, and a group of researchers and academics, personalities and dignitaries.
In the opening session, Hadhramaut Governorate Undersecretary for Valley and Desert Affairs Amer Saeed Al-Amri stressed the importance of holding the conference to address many phenomena and imbalances and find solutions and treatments according to scientific foundations through the various axes and research that the conference will address, noting that the conference represents a vital platform for exchanging knowledge and ideas on how to invest in cognitive development to support the paths of construction and development in society, stressing the local authority's support for education as a fundamental pillar of thinking and development, as there is no development without knowledge, and no knowledge without careful research. In turn, the President of Seiyun University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Ashour Al-Kathiri, explained that the conference is an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences and study the various dimensions of cognitive development and its impact on construction and development, noting the need to focus on building a flexible educational system that keeps pace with rapid changes and enhances critical thinking and innovation. The university president also stressed that universities play a pivotal role as centers for innovation and development. Through scientific research and applied projects, universities can contribute to solving local problems and enhancing sustainability.
He pointed out that the conference is being held at a time when the university is witnessing remarkable progress in the Arab classification and has been ranked (111) out of 673 universities that applied for the classification, which reflects its increasing and continuous role in promoting education and scientific research at the local and international levels.
He announced the first edition of the Sayoun University Award for Scientific Publication in medical, scientific, applied, humanitarian and administrative specialties.
For his part, the representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Najib Mohammed Saif, pointed out that holding this distinguished international conference with the participation of local and regional universities, bodies and research centers is clear evidence of the exceptional efforts made by Sayoun University, and its holding comes in line with the higher education strategy to develop scientific research and develop appropriate scientific competencies and qualify them, hoping that the conference will be an incentive to achieve more scientific development.. Noting that the ministry is carrying out a comprehensive reform process for higher education and scientific research as a basic tool for sustainable development, reviewing the programs implemented by the ministry with the aim of developing the reality of higher education from updating plans and developing programs.
In addition, the head of the scientific committee of the conference, Professor Dr. Abdullah Mohammed bin Shahab, explained that organizing the conference reflects the university's commitment to the methodology of scientific research, developing knowledge and achieving progress in a world characterized by rapid change and increasing challenges, noting that the slogan of the conference reflects a comprehensive vision that links knowledge to the development process, expressing his hope that the conference will come out with new ideas and innovative visions that contribute to achieving sustainable development and reveal new horizons for scientific cooperation and interaction.
The conference will discuss over two consecutive days three main axes: humanities, applied and basic sciences, and medical sciences, covering 144 scientific research papers in various specializations, with the participation of an elite group.
