Yemeni Writers Union Hadhramaut Branch on Saturday invited Professor Abdallah Bujra to
give a lecture Entitled " Hadharim ain the Indaian Ocean" lecture was presented in the Union Hall in Mukalla Al-sharj Zone.
The Lecture touched on the migration of Hadhramies since the begining of the 15th century to the Coast of Africa and East Asia also he talked about the role these people played politically, economically and Socially in these countries and the reasons behinde that prompted them to migrate to thses socities.
The Lecture was attended by academeic from local Universities Profeessors and those have interest in Social events.
At the end of the lecture, Professor Abdallah Bujra commnded his listners and he answered some of the qquwstions asked by the audince . He added that from all these questions there is a need for a separate and an independent research to be done .

Prof. Abdalla Bujra, is a Kenyan national .He obtained his Doctoral degree (PhD) in Sociology at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. As an academic and scholar, Prof. Bujra has taught in various universities around the world. His teaching expertise includes supervising senior researchers and graduate students (PhD and MA) in academic institutions. He has also participated in and managed several major High level Pan-African Panels and Committees linked to the AU as well as Pan-Africa Independent Research Organizations.Professor Abdallah Bujra.delivered many lectures in many universities around the world Include the supervision of the education experience of senior researchers and graduate students from academic institutions
Between the years 1970 - 1980 m was a member of various professional bodies such as the Joint Committee of the Organization of Regional Sociology
Between 2002 and 2004 became head of the Kenyan leading scientists sponsored by the Ford Foundation, which funded the research on governance in Kenya /Published several research widely on issues related to governance and development in Africa .He has published extensively on issues related to governance and development in Africa. Prof. Bujra is the author of a book on “The Politics of Stratification in a South Arabian Town” (Oxford University Press, 1971); he has co-authored and edited several books among them, “Africa and the Future,” a special number of (ADB) - African Development Bank’s journal (1995), “Leadership, Civil Society and Democratization in Eastern and Southern Africa 2002” (2 Volumes ), “Perspectives on the OAU/AU and Conflict Management in Africa” (2004). His latest edited book is on Kenya “ Kenya’s Democratic Transition: The Struggle from Liberal to Social Democracy” (2005). Further he has contributed to numerous publications in the form of articles (in journals), reports, occasional working papers and chapters in books.
