UN Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg discussed Wednesday with Makha's local
authority and management of Makha's Port situations in the district and
damages hit the city and the port of Makha by Houthi militia continuous
shelling on the city.
General Director of Makha District Basem al-Zuraiki provided details on damages hit the infrastructure of the port over Houthi militia's shelling on the state's institutions led by Makha Port, which is always bombarded by ballistic rockets, the recent has taken place today.
He pointed out to possible support from the UN to reactivate the port to receive assistances aiming at reduction of transporting goods and alleviating suffering of the people of Taiz and nearby provinces, supporting fishery sector and solving problems of farmers over the landmines planted by Houthi militia in the farms, as well as supporting displaced people, water sector and rehabilitating main roads.
For his part, the UN envoy made it clear that his visit to Makha comes in the framework of many visits to Taiz aiming at inspecting conditions and working on reaching an inclusive political settlement to end the war.
He confirmed that the forthcoming phase will witness more active role by the UN to end the conflict and realizing stability in Yemen.
