Yemen and the World Bank discussed Thursday here the package of projects
remained from 18 package and new projects within the package projects
19 to be presented later to the WB's Board Council later.
Presided over by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Wa'id Batheeb and the Regional Director of World Bank Marina Weis, the meeting discussed implemented projects, which helped significantly in economic recovery in Yemen led by social protection projects and projects of agriculture as well as food security, health, renewable energy, water and sanitation, education and roads projects.
Batheeb praised interventions of the organization for pushing national economy's wheel forward, building human capital, boosting good governance, transparency, justice and encourage the private sector's role, woman and protect environment and society.
He confirmed significance of boosting national institutions for implementing projects and capacity building, pointing out to government's aspirations for working with the regional team of the WB for implementing projects via governmental institutions on the ground and building capabilities of the executive units and national institutions.
He pointed out to significance of having committees for steering all the package projects as part of project's governance and that the WB shall provide the government a mechanism for evaluating and monitoring the UN organizations in Yemen while implementing former projects.
