Former Primer Minister
of New Zealand Jenny Shipley arrived Saturday in Yemen for a visit during which she will take part in a workshop on promoting Yemeni women's political participation. The workshop is to start on Sunday in Yemen's capital, Sana'a, and would be organized by the Yemeni Women Union. Arriving in Yemen, Shipley said she will deliver a lecture in which she will highlight the political participation of the New Zealand women and their role in decision making and development planning.Shipley will also bring up her experience when she served as a Prime Minister, with the aim to present Yemeni women to a model that they may benefit from to reach their goals through negotiating with men over participation in legislative and strategy making aspects."Yemen has effective legislation on women's participation in the development process which is very suitable for the Yemeni women ambitious to take part in decision making," she said
