Minister of Fisheries Fahd Kafayen discussed with a delegation from
different United Nations organizations the urgent priorities of relief
work in the Socotra which was hit by the cyclonic storm Mekunu last
week.
The UN delegation is currently visiting Socotra to assess the needs of the people of the archipelago province in the aftermath of the cyclone that hit it and other parts of Yemen.
He briefed the delegation on the damages that the cyclone left in the archipelago which on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
Talks went over the damage caused to the fish and agricultural sector, and the impact on fishermen's livelihood.
