Yemen participates in conclusion of Munich Security Conference 2018

Yemen has participated in the conclusion the 54th Munich Conference on
Security which wrapped up today in Germany. Yemen's representing
delegation was led by Deputy Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs
Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi.
The conference discussed important security issues such as terrorism, transnational crime, cybercrime, the role of development in the fight against terrorism and extremism, and the role of education, media and intellectual elites in protecting the young generation from being recruited into extremist organizations.
The conference debated a range of Middle East issues; conflicts, Iranian interventions in the region, Iran's pursuit of weapons of mass destruction and its role in fueling conflicts and divisions in Yemen, Lebanon.
A number of committees emanating from the conference focused on the current events in our country and the region and the difficult humanitarian situation that Yemen is experiencing, especially the security vacuum in large parts of the country, which stokes international concerns that terrorist organizations and extremists might exploit them.
The issue of child fightersrecruitment by the Houthi militia also attracted much attention in the Conference.
