Following swearing, Cabinet holds its first meeting

The Cabinet held on Sunday its first meeting under chairmanship of Prime Minister Khalid Bahah, after swearing before President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi. At its first meeting, the Cabinet reviewed the circumstances that accompanied its formation and the large and extraordinary challenges facing it, as well as the main guidelines of its work in the next stage.
In his speech at the meeting, the prime minister welcomed the Cabinet members, expressing his big confidence in them to take responsibility at this critical stage and the difficult conditions experienced by the homeland.
He referred to the complex way followed in choosing of Ministers, which based on the criteria of competence and integrity, noting that 75 percent of the government members are ministers for the first time.
Bahah pointed out that the government looks positively to statements issued by some political components objecting to the formation of the government.
"Ultimately, whatever you do, you will not be able to provide a government satisfies everyone. However, we are looking forward to a constructive and positive work with all political and social components", he said, adding that the real test of the evaluation criteria is the achievement and performance.
The premier urged the government members to work as one team on the grounds that everyone represents the homeland, stressing the importance of committing to the implementation of the Peace and National Partnership Agreement (PNPA).
He pointed out that the work of this exceptional government requires everyone to assume responsibility to the fullest and the concerted efforts of all to achieve success.
Bahah elaborated that according to PNPA the Cabinet shall form an economic committee after a week from its formation to implement the tasks set forth in the agreement and it shall start preparing the government program, as well as implementing a number of tasks, including the new constitution, electoral register and others.
"Our coming situation is exceptional ,and we all have to take responsibility", Bahah said, noting that that requires in addition to the government efforts the political and popular support.
In this regard, Bahah affirmed that the popular support requires that the government members deal with the citizen with full transparency, stressing the importance of strengthening integrity and respect for the law and promoting the positive culture in work and the government's performance in order to create a state of optimism and achievement.
He called on the ministers to focus on performing their work, not pay attention to any partisan or political differences and put the interest of the homeland and citizen above all else, reminding them the size of the grand national responsibility of the government in these exceptional circumstances experienced by the homeland.
Concluding his speech, the prime minister expressed his hope for cooperation and building trust with all political parties and forces and societal components to work as one team in order to get the homeland to safety.
