The United Kingdom has welcomed the formation of the new Yemeni government, calling on all political parties and components to cooperate with the government to face challenges. This was mentioned in a statement by the Foreign Secretary, Philip Hammond, published Friday on the Foreign & Commonwealth Office website.
“I congratulate President Hadi and Prime Minister Bahah on the formation of Yemen’s new government. I welcome their commitment to creating a better future for all the people of Yemen. This is a critical first step in addressing the serious economic, political and security challenges facing the country. It is vital that all political parties and groups work together with the new government to overcome these challenges, including the threat posed by Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. I hope that the groups will adhere to the 1 November agreement on government formation including offering all necessary support to the new government,” said Hammond.
I hope that Yemen’s neighbours, who all have an interest in a stable and prosperous Yemen, will work together in full support of the new government, he added.
