The Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Yemen, ýJamal Benomar, has continued his consultations with the relevant parties in order to reach a peaceful solution to the current crisis in Yemen, his office said in a statement late on Monday. Benomar met with President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi on Monday and held separate meetings with senior government officials, the leader of the Islah Party, and representatives of Ansarullah (Houthis).
"Discussions focused on ways to address the crisis, and the need to achieve consensus over timely solutions based on the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference," the statement said.
Benomar also had a telephone conversation with the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Abdul-Latif al-Zayani during which they discussed cooperation between the United Nations and the GCC in support of the political process.
Benomar's meetings also included the Special Envoy of the United Kingdom to Yemen Alan Duncan and Ambassador Jane Marriott, and the United States Ambassador Mathew Tueller.
