PM briefs GCC, US, Russian diplomats on national developments [08/September/2014]

Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa on Monday met separately with the US and Russian ambassadors to Yemen and Charges d'Affaires of the GCC countries' embassies in Sana'a.
During the meetings, Basindwa briefed the ambassadors and diplomats on the latest developments at the national arena and their political, security and economic implications, which requires the continuation of the international community support to the Yemeni people to preserve the gains that have been achieved so far within the commitment to the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism.
The meetings touched on strengthening and developing the mechanisms of bilateral cooperation between Yemen and each of those countries to serve the common interests of Yemeni people and the peoples of those countries.
Basindwa praised the positions of the U.S., Russian and the GCC countries in support of the Yemeni people in the different circumstances and stages politically, developmentally and culturally, expressing his hope that those countries would continue to support Yemen to overcome the current challenges and achieve the success of the transition phase, which will maintain the security and stability of Yemen.
For their parts, the ambassadors and Charges d'Affaires confirmed their countries' keenness to strengthen the level of cooperation with Yemen and to continue their efforts along with the international community to help Yemen overcome the current challenges.
