Prime Minister Dr Ali Mohammed Mujawar confirmed Sunday that the parliamentary elections would be held on their constitutional date and the General People’s Congress GPC would not accept extortion and would not offer more concessions to Joint Meeting Parties JMP, calling on them to respect the will of the people. In statements to Al-Mithaq newspaper, organ of the GPC, premier Mujawar clarified that results of the latest elections are behind the extortion practiced by the JMP at the present for fear and escaping from defeat in the parliamentary elections. He stressed the JMP is not a guardian of the democratic process. Dr Mujawar also warned against impinging upon the national constants or acts that may offend security and stability. He said the terrorist cells are still inflicting damage on the national economy and all should join forces, especially the political parties and organisations, to encounter terror and drying its sources. The Prime Minister also affirmed that 95% of military retired cased have been completed at a cost of YR50 billion and emphasized the necessity of distinguishing between right demands and the calls bearing conspiratorial projects aimed at Yemen. On media freedoms Dr Mujawar said the government has last week referred the draft law of information to the parliament to finalize the constitutional procedures for passing it. The law emphasizes on enhancement of transparency and development of the freedom of press in Yemen granting the journalists the right to access to information easily. He has also revealed that last week the government has taken a decision of naming a government spokesman. He said he feels pleased when he sees some newspapers publish constructive criticisms on performance of some ministers and similarly when one of the newspapers has a scoop in disclosing a case of corruption because this helps the government very much , deeming the press as partner in shouldering the national and social responsibility.On the economic situation the Prime Minister made it clear giving care and interest to fish wealth and the liquefied natural gas as they are promising alternatives the government works for investing them in the process of the national construction and development.
