The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) rejected on Friday any endeavors targeting the ongoing political process in Yemen.
In a statement, Saba received a copy of which, the GCC Secretary General Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani called all political powers and components of the Yemeni society to abide by implementing outcomes of the National Conference Dialogue (NCD) and to actively contribute to providing suitable atmospheres to finalize implementation of the 3rd stage of the Gulf sponsored initiative and its executive mechanism.
The statement stressed the importance of all Yemeni parties to stick to the legal frameworks for expressing opinions and to work to preserve the supreme interests of Yemen.
Al Zayani condemned the unfortunate events taking place around the capital city and using threats to escalate the situation since these acts go against the national consensus and foresee unwanted consequences endangering Yemen's security and stability.
He also renewed, in the statement, the GCC support for all decisions and procedures taken by the political leadership and the Yemeni government to maintain unity, security and stability of Yemen, affirming that the GCC member states will continue to provide all aspects of support in a bid to promote the achieved progress in the political process which is based on the Gulf initiative.
Al Zayani praised efforts exerted by President Abdu-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to create suitable climates serving the prompt implementation of the outcomes of the NDC in order to finalize the political transition to cope with aspirations of all Yemenis.
