President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi received the founder of the Southern Movement Nasser al-Noba along with a number of leaders and members of the movement in Sana'a on Sunday.
President Hadi talked about measures and steps have been taken on the ground to solve the southern issue based on the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference (NDC), which included transferring Yemen into a six-region federal state in order to ensure the new future of Yemen.
"The federal system in Yemen is modern and it would overcome centralization in the country based on fair distribution of wealth and power,'' President Hadi said.
President Hadi highly valued the struggle by the southern people since 2007 to defend the southern issue through the peaceful southern movement.
"There is no doubt that many of you have been arrested due to their participation in rallies and demonstrations, however, struggle continued until the winds of change, through the so-called Arab Spring, started in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Yemen," he said.
President Hadi reviewed with them a number of issues and topics related to the southern issue and the solutions stipulated in the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and based on the GCC-brokered deal.
"We have approved several solutions for the southern grievances that resulted from the 1994 war,'' Hadi stated.
He added, "We have tackled the issue of officers and soldiers who were wrongfully dismissed or forced to retire and settled land disputes through committees established for these purposes." He said that a number of decisions would be issued in this regard very soon.
