CDC gets acquainted with German judicial system

The Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) within the framework of its current visit to Berlin has listened to a presentation on the German experience in the judiciary field. The presentation, which was presented by former German Minister of Justice Herta Däubler-Gmelin, focused on the system of the judicial authority in Germany and the constitutional courts levels and their specializations.
Gmelin explained that the judges are fully independent and that the judge performs his job thoroughly and impartially and under censorship. She indicated that the judicial authority in Germany works in accordance with strict constitutional and legal rules controlling the performance of judges.
The German expert affirmed the importance of the independent judiciary and identifying powers between the different levels of the judicial authority to maintain the unity of the judicial authority in the federation, stressing at the same time the importance of strict adherence to the terms of selecting judges.
On another hand, the CDC continued to debate with the international experts, who presented presentations on the fiscal federalism.
The debates focused on aspects related to revenues ,systems of collection , mechanisms of dividing resources and the different tax bases.
