MASQAT, Nov. 8 (Saba)- The 50th Round of Arab Culture Ministers
Conference started its activities in the Omani capital Muscat on
Wednesday. The round, chaired by Yemeni Minister of Culture, Khaled al-Ruwaishan, the round will last for two days. In the opening session, al-Ruwaishan delivered a speech in which he discussed what has been achieved in the fourteenth round of the last conference held in Sana'a in 2004. He expressed his happiness for seeing the Arab Ministers gather again in another Arab capital, expressing plentiful thanks to the government of Oman for the generous hospitality he and his accompanying delegation get. "the unique positions of culture in our world impose on our conference great responsibilities, most of them are responding and interaction with the new changes in the world," he said, adding that we are in a world tends towards provisional and international groupings, "we must center our efforts to enforce this Arab meeting and making it smart." He indicated that the Republic of Yemen has cared in this round on following up the decisions and recommendations of Sana'a Conference held in 2004. He said that they urged in their previous cultural meetings for supporting the nationality of Arab Culture in Palestine and Iraq but confessed thatthey have not seen positive results." I believe that Arab Culture's officials are most responsible of their Arab culture an preserving it, "he added. Then, Omani Minister of Culture and Heritage, the chairman of past round, Haitham Bin Tariq Al-Saeed, deliver a speech in which he thanked the participating delegation heads for anticipating him the chairman of the round, pointing out to Arroweishan's efforts of following up the decisions and recommendations of the past round. He thanked the secretary general of Arab Education, Science and Culture Organization and members of Permanent Committee for Arab Culture for their efforts of following up the positive and fruitful results of the previous conferences.
