Yemeni Media Women Forum (YMWF) is to organize on Tuesday a workshop on pinpointing women's developmental demands in media . The
workshop aims to form a clear vision on the information and development
programs which promote women roles and highlight the obstacles that
interrupt their developmental run. It also aims at pinpointing
the features of the information and developmental projects adopted by
YMWF during the upcoming years and finding joint thoughts for women
future projects. In this regard, the YMWF is due to organize a
training course for 30 female journalists from Sana'a, Aden , Taiz,
Hodeidan, Ibb, Hadramout and Mareb governorates. The course
will last for nine days and comes within the project of "Journalists
for Human Rights" which is carried out in coordination with the Middle
East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) and aims to give journalists skills
of reference and legal thinking in the issues related to the human
rights, Deputy Head of YMWF Wedad al-Badawi made clear. Al-Badawi
said that the course, which will be organized early next month, deals
with three main issues; human rights through introducing related
international laws and local reports, women rights and the Convention
on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women
(CEDAW), and recognizing the appropriation level of international laws
which were approved by our country with the local laws . Al-Badawi
also added that the course will introduce the journalistic technical
interaction with the human rights violations and provide journalists
with all related laws and documents to be a reference for journalists
when dealing with such issues . The journalists will work
through their subjects on drawing attention to many social issues and
women rights from a legal prospective using all appropriate
journalistic forms to deal with such issues, al-Badawi concluded .
