Cabinet approves deal to lift State revenues from gas sales

The Cabinet approved ,in its meeting on Wednesday, an agreement to raise the State revenues from the gas sales to France's Total company for the year 2014. According to the agreement, the State revenues from the gas sales to Total will rise from $ 178.8 million in 2013 to $ 337 million in 2014, by a $ 158 million increase.
The Cabinet stressed adding of an item to the agreement stipulates revising the gas prices for every five years starting from 2015.
In this regard, the Cabinet assigned a committee to negotiate to modify the gas prices with the "GDF" Suez company for 2014, and to continue negotiation with the Total and GDF Suez to alternate gas prices for the next two year. In its meeting, chaired by Prime Minster Mohamed Salem Basindwa ,the Cabinet hailed the heroic victories of the army ,security forces and the people's committees against the elements of Al-Qaeda terrorist organization in the provinces of Shabwa and Abyan. The Cabinet confirmed its absolute support to the all measures being taken by the military and security institutions to uproot this terrorist organization.
With respect to the security situation, the Cabinet directed the Defense and Interior Ministries to take decisive action against the elements of sabotage, who resumed their activities in harming the interests of the citizens by attacking the power transmission lines and oil pipelines.
The Cabinet renewed the Yemeni government's denunciation and condemnation of the cowardly terrorist incident that targeted two French nationals in the capital on Monday and resulted in the killing of one of them and wounding another.
Regarding the economic affairs, the Cabinet listened to a report from the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Planning and International Cooperation on the meeting of the Group of Friends of Yemen, which was held in London late last month.
In this regard, the Cabinet noted to the final statement of the meeting of the Friends of Yemen, which included the confirmation and the keenness of the international community on the security and stability of Yemen.
Moreover, the Cabinet discussed the draft law on recovering looted money, which was submitted by the Minister of Legal Affairs and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee tasked to review it.
The draft law aims to track ,detect and freeze the smuggled and looted public funds at home and abroad and recover them to the public treasury.
