A military source revealed on Monday the identities of some al-Qaeda militants killed by the army in Abyan and Shabwa provinces.
The security authorities managed to identify the identities of six bodies of al-Qaeda militants. They were Abada al-Sharori, Abdul-Rahman al-Hawti, Abo Obaida, Hussein al-Badawi, Ben Huzairoon and Malek al-Maki, the source said.
They were all Saudi nationals, he added.
Since last Tuesday, dozens of al-Qaeda fighters, including leaders, have been killed or arrested in an offensive launched by the army backed by the popular committees. Many of them were foreigners, including "Abu Islam al-Shaishani", a Chechnian national, and "Abu Muslim al-Uzbeki", officials said.
The offensive aimed at clearing al-Qaida militants from their remaining hideouts in Shabwa and Abyan provinces.
Military sources said that al-Qaeda has suffered huge losses, stressing that the army is clamping down on the terrorists.
