emen Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr Saleh Ali Basura met Sunday Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Al-Rashid Foundation for Information Technology Hamad Fahad al-Hamdan, discussed with him needs of Yemen universities in the area of information technology, electronic education, electronic libraries and the possibility of the Saudi foundation to carry out projects in this regard. Dr Basura reviewed the developments realized by the higher e4duction in Yemen in various areas especially in the period that followed the unity, pointing out that government universities accommodate more than 240 thousand students in addition to the presence of more than 5000 members of the teaching staff. For his part Mr al-Hamdan affirmed their keenness on enhancement and development of relations between the two countries, exchange of expertise and implementation of projects in the area of information technology in the universities under joint Gulf-Yemeni financing. He has made it clear that a team from his foundation would visit a number of Yemeni government universities to get acquainted with their situations and to determine the required needs in the area of education technologies and electronic education.
