UN hails release of two abducted UN staff

The two UN personnel abducted on Tuesday in Sana'a are released on Wednesday in good health, the UN office in Yemen said.
In its press release, the UN expressed its appreciation of the determined efforts of the Yemeni authorities which secured the abductees' safe return.
"We as the UN are here to assist the people of this country through a challenging time. We stand committed to you, the people of Yemen and the Government, in addressing humanitarian and development challenges and achieve a better and safe future for all the people living in this country," says Dr. Ahmed Shadoul, acting Resident Coordinator for the UN in Yemen.
However, the UN office expressed concern over James Massaquoi, a UNICEF staff abducted 172 days ago, urging the Yemeni authorities' to ensure his return safely as well.
The two UN staff, an Italian expert and Yemeni citizen, were kidnapped Tuesday in the capital Sana'a. The Yemeni authorities freed them in Marib province.
