China has decided to reduce 95% of the customs duties on Yemeni exports, the Chinese Vice Foreign Minister said Monday. Zhai Jun statement made in the opening of the Yemeni-Chinese talk session co-chaired by him and Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi that kicked off in Sana'a today [Monday].
The decision came within the Chinese government's willingness to strengthen the good relations between Yemen and China, Jun said, adding that the decision would push Chinese companies to further cooperation with the Yemeni side in the energy, communications and investment fields.
The Chinese authorities have also made a decision to return Chinese teachers and doctors to work in Yemen in addition to the intent to open a department to teach Chinese language at the Sana'a University, he said.
Jun underlined his country's infinite support for the political solution in Yemen, which should be a model for other countries of the Arab Spring.
Al-Qirbi valued highly the key role China has played in the UN Security Council to push the political settlement in the country as well as its support to the visit of the UN Security Council's members paid to Yemen yesterday [Sunday].
The Yemeni-Chinese talk session focused on the Chin's role in backing the transition process in Yemen in addition to the possible means to enhance the bilateral cooperation relations.
The two sides also discussed how to strengthen the Chinese oil and mineral investments in Yemen and the ways to boost the commercial exchange between Yemen and China, which reached $5.5 billion in 2012.
