UN, GCC to open offices in Yemen

President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi has said that offices of UN secretary general assistant and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are to opened in Yemen to follow up the political settlement.
Chairing an extraordinary meeting of the high security committee's members, senior military and security officials on Saturday, the President said "The UN secretary general has ordered to open an office for his assistant, in addition to opening another office of GCC in Yemen, both aim to watch closely the progress on the implementation of the political process in the country based on the GCC initiative". Hadi has pledged to hold accountable those who neglect their responsibilities to the power-transfer deal and those who attack the country's infrastructure. "It is true we let some violations go unpunished in the past, but from now on, we will not allow that again and will deal strictly with such acts." The President said "the political settlement in Yemen is enjoying strong local, regional and international support; hence, Yemen is determined to continue the implementation of the power transfer perfectly". He also stressed the importance of unifying the military and security uniforms and working together to boost security across the republic. Concerning the fight against al-Qaeda, the President said it is the responsibility of all Yemenis without exceptions, stressing that the people should work together to eradicate terrorism in the country. During the meeting, the President has listened to several opinions aiming to enhancing the country's security and stability.
