Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa directed on Tuesday all ministers to give a high priority to youth.
During his meeting with representatives of civil society organizations and youth entities in Aden governorate, Basindwa asserted his understanding of all the youths' demands and needs, topped by the issue of unemployment. "The youths' demands are a legitimate right to them, and the government will not hesitate to do anything possible to meet their demands in accordance with available potentials," he said. Our destiny is to bear responsibility and you pay the costs. Your demands are many. If we can, we would not waver to fulfill them all at once, but you know the heavy legacy we inherited. As we understand your conditions, you, in return, have to understand ours, the prime minister said.He said that there are several factors that make us optimistic about a better and bright future. "We must not give in to despair and pessimism. The present is better than the past and future, Allah willing, will be better than the present." He explained that everything that happens in Yemen is due to the corruption that led to widespread poverty, unemployment and suffering. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of regaining the economic, civil and cultural status of Aden, saying "it is Yemen's interest to advance Aden, and the fate of the unity and Yemen's future is held in Aden." He pointed to the importance of concerting efforts to resolve all the problems of Aden, stressing that he would spare no effort to maintain the security and stability of Aden and restore its pioneer role.
