The source said al-Qaeda leader in the eastern governorate of Jawf "Musaed Mohammed Ahmed al-Barbari" was among the six arrested.

Al-Barbari led the terrorist attack on the Sana'a International Airport in 19 January 2009, and was the coordinator with al-Qaeda militants out Yemen, the source said.

The other arrestees were Mohammed Hussein Musaib, Mohammed Abdul-Qader al-Shehri, Nader Ahmed al-Qubati, Mohammed Muthana al-Ammari and Abdul-Mun'em Hamid Abu Ghanem. They have been carrying out surveillance and planning missions targeting senior government and security officials as well as orchestrating attacks on Arab and foreign missions and critical state facilities, according to the source. The source said they also recruited and trained youths and sent them to fight with al-Qaeda militants in Abyan and Shabwah governorates.
Weapons and explosives meant for the attacks were seized in the possession of arrestees, he added.
