http://www.english.hadhramaut.info Yemen, UNDP discuss fisheries sector strategy [The Source: SANA'A/hadhramaut.info/sabanews.net - 24/04/2011] Caretaker Minister of Fisheries Wealth Mohammad Shamlan met here on Sunday with the UNDP's team to prepare the national strategy for fisheries sector. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the results of the study prepared by the team on the weak points suffered by the sector and the appropriate solutions to overcome them.In addition, they reviewed the underway preparations to hold the second workshop during the coming period within the preparation of the strategy.   Shamlan stressed the need to focus, during the preparation of the strategy, on providing as many as possible of jobs in the fisheries sector and enhancing the sector's contribution to the national economy. The strategy would mainly contribute to regulate fisheries and conserve fish stocks, he added. He valued the UNDP's role in helping the Yemeni government's efforts to develop the promising economic sectors in Yemen, particularly the fisheries sector.
