Meeting with GCC FMs was successful, GPC official says

The meeting with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Foreign Ministers in Abu Dhabi was successful, a senior official in the ruling party General People Congress (GPC) said on Wednesday.
The statement made by the GPC Assistant Secretary-General Ahmed Bin Dhagar upon the arrival of the GPC and National Democratic Alliance Parties (NDAP) delegation led by president's political advisor and GPC president deputy Abdul-Karim al-Eryani coming from Abu Dhabi, UAE, where they held a meeting on Tuesday with GCC Foreign Ministers to complete discussions on the developments in Yemen under the GCC initiative to address the current stalemate in the country.The discussions have focused on GCC initiative's general principles and practical steps, Bin Dhagar said, depicting the discussions as positive and constructive."We talked about ways and means to achieve stability in Yemen and at the same time allow to discuss how to transfer power peacefully", he said. Actually, the discussions have not dealt with anything beyond GCC initiative, he added.There were various standpoints about the issues conferred in the meeting, however they all reflected the entire keenness on Yemen's unity and security, which is part of region's security and future, Bin Dhagar said.The GCC Foreign Ministers and the GPC and NDAP delegation held an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday co-chaired by Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister and Chairman of the current GCC Ministerial Council and Abdul-Karim al-Eryani from the GPC delegation in the presence of GCC secretary general Abdul Latif Al Zayani.At the conclusion of the meeting, a press release was issued, stressing the importance of exerting further efforts ensure maintaining the stability and security of Yemen.During the meeting, both sides have exchanged viewpoints on GCC initiative, the press release read, pointing that the discussions were constructive and showed that two sides' desire to reach an agreement that meets the Yemeni people's aspirations of stable and secure life.The GCC Ministerial Council has listened to an explanation from al-Eryani on the developments of the Yemeni impasse and the GPC's vision of the current situation and how to be tackled with a compromise solution via a paper submitted by the delegation to the GCC Council, according to the press release
