http://www.english.hadhramaut.info Governor inaugurates Scientific conference on cancers in Mukalla [The Source: MUKALLA/hadharamaut.info - 05/02/2011] Third International Conference on Cancer Started today in Mukalla city.
Its  being organized by  Hadhramaut Health Foundation and Hadhramaut Society for Cancer Control in collaboration with the World Health Organization.The Conference will run for four days  and its Agenda are about cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, address national  and international statistics and registries on  cancer  as well as the  international programs to control the disease also  early detection of cancer and its relationship to nutrition.
 Hadhramout Governor, Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi  blessed the conference in Mukalla.  He expressed his  hope that this conference  will play an active role in the dissemination of knowledge and education to curb the spread of the disease as well as to  identify its causes and methods of prevention, emphasizing state and Government attention to fight this disease through the establishment of cancer centers  in a number of provinces. Governor Al-kanbashi Khanbashi expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency President  Ali Abdullah Saleh for his support and encouragement for such  conferences and to overcome all the obstacles and the care and  interest his  Excellency gives for the advancement of the domain of health and awareness and use of local expertise and regional and international organizations in this area.
WHO representative in our country Dr. . Ghulam Popal  indicated that  30-40% of cancers can be treated and that the year 2008 recorded 12.7 million new cases of cancer. The same year   also witnessed about 7.6 million deaths and he  noted that it is expected that the in the year 2030 the  number of people living with cancer in the world will reach  21.4 million infected  and 13.2 million deaths. He  also noted that cancer disease ranked fourth  in the Middle East  in terms of causes of death among young people and adults and comes directly after heart disease.
