Rescuers pulled out the bodies of a man and two women, including a ninth month pregnant woman and a girl in her 20s, late on Wednesday, as they continued the search for 7 people who were believed to be inside the building, the civil defense in the Secretariat Capital said.
At least four other people, all relatives of the owner of the building, are still under the rubble, it said.Four people were rescued including the owner, a pilot in Yemen Air Force, and his eight-year old daughter and wife on Wednesday, hours after the five-storey building fell down at 3:00 at the police quarter in downtown the capital. The girl later died as she arrived at hospital.Director of the civil defense Abdul Karim al Bukhaiti said building more stories over the old building, made of bricks, and mobile phone base station antennas over it were key reasons for its collapse. The owner had been warned not to build more stories, but he ignored the warnings until the tragedy occurred, he added.
