They discussed the executive plan for introducing the Know About Business Curriculum in the education system of Yemen's vocational institutes during the academic year 2011-2012. The two sides agreed to implement the plan taking into consideration the absorption of all notes and proposals put forward by specialists in the curricula sector and the ILO according to the basic guidelines of the Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training. There should be a final version of the curriculum to approve it as a basic subject at institutes with the aim to educate the students about the importance of doing their own pioneer projects after graduation, they said.Furthermore, they agreed to count all technical education and vocational training institutes as well as trainers in the country to qualify them for the KAB programme; identify the estimation of students to be covered by the programme in the academic year 2011-2012; and identify the number of hours and study levels to apply this programme.The executive plan for the KAB implementation includes an introduction into the business world being implemented by the ILO through the Social Development Fund, forming a supervisory commission to review the training contents of the programme and adjusting it to the Yemeni environment, identifying the programme assessment tools, choosing and appointing a number of advisors and trainers by the supervisory commission, dividing the work among groups and introducing the groups to the work mechanisms, and holding a workshop to discuss amendments.It also contains holding capacity-building workshops for KAB instructors to qualify them to train other trainers; organizing field visits to Syria with the goal of familiarizing with its expertise in presenting the KAB programme; holding training courses for trainers; qualifying local trainers to enable them to contribute to the training and evaluation processes; and doing all necessary activities within the programme to ensure its continuity.In addition, it covers printing and supplying training and promotion materials for the KAB and distributing them to institutes; distributing an evaluation form to measure first and final impacts of the programme to the participants; conducting reports and discussing them with the Yemeni concerned authorities and the ILO; and holding training workshops this year to evaluate the mechanism of introducing the first semester of the KAB with the participation of elite trainers and conducting review to start introducing the second semester materials.
