gives priority to human development because it is the cornerstone of
sustainable development..
At the
opening of the regional conference on education quality and academic
accreditation being held in Sana'a, he said the investment in human capital,
and especially in higher education and scientific research, is the main engine
of economic growth, generating a big developmental base and improving living
standards.Spending on
education has been rising to the highest level with the education sector given
a top priority in the country, he said, as he highlighted steps the Yemeni
government has made to provide all support
to the national educational institutions.
Paying
greater attention to academic accreditation has become an urgent national and
international demand to produce good educational outputs in line with needs of
labour markets, he said.Yemen and the
Arab nation are in an urgent need for adopting new trends in academic quality
and accreditation to improve scientific research at the present time known as
the time of knowledge and science, he said.Moreover, he
hailed the role of the private sector in improving education in the country,
pointing to the University
of Sciences and
Technology as a model and urging Yemeni public and private universities to
strengthen ties with Arab and Islamic counterparts to serve the quality of
education.
