IMO voices keenness on widening cooperation with Yemen

International Organization for Migration (IMO) voiced on Saturday keenness on widening cooperation volume with Yemen.
IMO Director General William Swing said the organization will send a technical team to assist Yemen in carrying out the recommendations of the regional workshop on the mobility of Yemeni workforce to the GCC countries kicked off in Sana'a today.
He also expressed his appreciations of the Yemeni government's support to the IMO office in Yemen, valuing the humanitarian role Yemen plays towards the refugees.
Swing made such statements during his meeting with Prime Minister Ali Mujawar, who was briefed on the projects carried out jointly by IMO and Yemen in various areas pertaining to normal and illegal migration.
Prime Minister talked on the numerous negative impacts of the illegal migration on Yemen in economic, social and health areas, affirming that Yemen is shoulder extra burdens, though its simple resources and current economic challenges, due to hosting hundreds of thousands of refugees and illegal migrants.
Mujawar underlined the importance of enhancing the international assistance to Yemen to alleviate the burdens and to prop up the humanitarian efforts the government made in this regard.Mujawar and Swing discussed a number of issues concerning mutual cooperation in migration areas and training the associated cadres as well as the current cooperation in field of upgrading the capacities of Yemeni border guards and coastguards.They also dealt with the regional workshop on the mobility of Yemeni workforce to the GCC countries and the existing coordination among Ministry of Social Affaires, IMO and Arab Labour Organization (ALO) to hold the workshop and to carry out its recommendations with other partners
