http://www.english.hadhramaut.info US President calls President Saleh [The Source: SANA'A/hadhramaut.info/damoun.net - 02/11/2010] President Ali Abdullah Saleh received on Tuesday a phone call from the US President Barack Obama over the bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, topped by the developmental and economic cooperation and counterterrorism. The US President re-expressed support of America for Yemen's security, unity and its development process, in addition to combating terrorism; showing appreciation of the US administration for efforts of Yemen in confronting terrorism. He pointed out that Yemen is an important partner to the USA, affirming continuation of the USA to cooperate with Yemen in all areas.Obama noted that he personally committed to eradicating Al-Qaeda elements and helping Yemen to become more progressive.For his part, President Saleh asserted his country will continue to combat terrorism and hunt down Al-Qaeda elements and destroy its activities which harmed the national economy, tourism, investment and development.He emphasized that Yemen will continue to be an active partner with the international community in combating terrorism.Saleh considered the decision of some European countries to terminate air flights coming from Yemen as a collective punishment on the Yemeni people and it achieves goals of the terrorists, on the one hand, and negatively affects efforts of Yemen in counterterrorism, on the other hand.He called President Obama to intervene with the EU countries to reconsider such a decision, affirming that firm procedures have been taken in the Yemeni airports and to hunt down terrorists.Terrorism is an international phenomenon and not only in Yemen which requires collaboration of efforts of all, Saleh said.
