http://www.english.hadhramaut.info Saada meeting reviews Yemen-UN reconstruction initiative [The Source: SAADA,/hadhramaut.info/sabanews.net - 14/10/2010] Saada Governor met on Thursday with director of the Saada Reconstruction Fund in the province Adel al Jailani and the representative of the UNDP Fuad al Ba'adani. The meeting focused on the Yemeni-UN initiative for rebuilding the war-ravaged areas in Saada that was prepared upon the request of the government.The initiative is being implemented by the UN agencies in cooperation with the World Bank and the fund and aims to support bases of peace through carrying out a number of reconstructions and developmental projects. It covers four sectors: the first concerns housing infrastructure through building public and private buildings and social infrastructure through spreading education and restoring schools, clinics and medical centers The second is relating to economic revival through identifying and implementing a set of projects aimed at improving the income ways in Saada in areas such as agriculture and supporting healthcare and educational services. The third focuses on local governance through identifying a set of projects that aim to improve and build the capacity of the local authorities to enable them to provide better developmental and social services as well as providing offices for the authorities.While the fourth part involves conducting a long-term social and economic development study that should cover all areas in the province. The initiative will be implemented gradually that first phase will be implemented in three districts Saada, Sahar and al DhaThe technical teams will start surveys and investigations during 17-22 October and submit their final report on this phase on November 22. The practical implementation of projects to be identified by the teams will start in January 2011.
