http://www.english.hadhramaut.info Habits and traditions in Albaldah Season / Al-Shehir Model [The Source: Hadhramout Governorate Site - 08/11/2007 ] The secretariat of the Union of the Yemeni Writers and literary men  Hadhramout Branch, organized a lecture in its hall  last Wednesday 8/8/2007. The lecture was entitled "Habits and traditions in Albaldah Season / Al-Shehir Model". And was delivered by  Prof. researcher / Abdullah Saleh Hadad. At the beginning Mr Hadad pointed to some research and writings from  which he  derived his leture . These were written by  professors  / Mohammad Abdul Kader Bamtraf,  Bader Ahmed Alkasadi and  Abdulrahman  Abdelkarim Almilahi.Mr Hadad praised  the idea of establishing a tourist festival accompanied by activities and other events. Since our time - According to him - filled with harsh life programmes.So this festival comes as a relief ,and travelling to attend it  gives other benefits. The professor / Abdullah Haddad talked about  the naming of stars in general  and Albaldah Star in particular.  And the disruption of the movement of fishing by high waves  where fishermen-in this period of time- look for another work or stay without work. He also spoke about the benefits of the  sea water in this period and the traditional visits  linked to the Star. as well as the marine habits such as (Souban's Day), Souban - the word and the habit .He  had explained  the meaning of this word (which stated that even in ancient Arabic poetry,it was mentioned in two varieties: Souban and So'ban ). And differences in these two varieties are certified by Late researcher Mr Bamtraf and reseacher Alkasadi,ccording to Mr hadad. He further  pointed  out that people have to maintain certain customs associated with old superstitions, where he linked  the word Souban to an ancient God.  He also talked about The details of  souban's Day celebration and how to perform dances as well as Arajeez (dancing mixed with traditional singing).   The lecture was very rich .. indispensable. It was enriched by  interventions from the part of the  attendance of researchers and writers. The last speaker was Professor researcher / Abdulrahman Abdelkarim Almilahi , who cited some stories Almithologer (mythology) included habits prevailed in the region and faded now. Stressing once again that the stories and Arajeez linked to  Souban has nothing to do with mythology or ancient Gods.While Ms Hadad insisted on such link. The lecture was attended by a number of writers, intellectuals and university professors. Also witnessed the return of Dr. / Said Salim Jariri, Chief of the Union of the Arab Republic of Egypt. Where he exploited this visit  with some cultural activities following the meeting with Dr.  Abdrab Idris. During which   Mr Idris Handed over  three poems to My Jeriri which he sang  In the ceremony held recently in Al-Mukalla within the town's Tourist Festival 4 of Albaldah Season.
