Yemen, donors to kick off meetings in Riyadh soon

The working group of Yemen and donors in charge of identifying Yemen's development needs and follow up projects' implementation is to be convened in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Saturday.
The working group will include representatives of development funds in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)'s states, the GCC secretariat general, Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD), OPEC Fund for International Development, European Union, the USA, Japan, World Bank (WB), International Monetary Fund (IMF), UN and the Ministry of International Development in the United Kingdom.The group will begin its meeting by reviewing the achieved progress in allocating the financial pledges of London donor conference 2006 and the development projects that have been carried out in the last four years.The second day of the group's meetings will be dedicated to define the development needs for Yemen in 2011 – 2015.The group will get acquainted with several reports and documents prepared by the government, GCC secretariat general and donors.It is scheduled that Yemen will present four documents pertaining to using resources and enhancing capacity of financial commitments, the developments and challenges in Yemen, the 2009 – 2010 reform agenda and the government's vision on absorbing the Yemeni labor in gulf markets.Moreover, the government will present a report on the fourth five-year plan and investment program, in addition to a paper on the nature of security difficulties that Yemen encounters and its impacts on the country.
