The UNHCR spokesperson Andrej Mahecic was quoted by AFP as saying that the step comes to continue programs for hundreds of people amid lack of funds to support refugees from the recently-end war in the far north. It is also an alternative to suspending the UNHCR's protection and assistance programs and to prevent possible impacts on a civilian population forcibly displaced by seven months of conflict between the government and Al Houti movement in northern Yemen, he added.
The UNHCR needs $ 39 million to build camps and provide  other relief materials in Saada province, he said, pointing out that until now less than %10 of the needed amount had been received.Mahecic urged to speed eliminating landmines and restoring basic services amid the ceasefire that was brought into effect almost two weeks ago to enable the refugees to return to their homes. He, furthermore, revealed that the organization is facing difficulties to fund its programs amid scarce donor funds and donor low response.
