 Head of the literacy and adult education Mr. Ahmed Abdullahsaid that  "The number of students in literacy classes for this year isapproximately 177 thousand students in  various governorates."
He explained in a statement to the Yemen News Agency (SABA) on the occasion of the Arab Literacy Day,  being celebrated  every eighth of January of each year. Mr. Abdallah went that from a total of 75 thousend 447 are studying in thefirst year of basic education , out of these nearly four thousand are  male students  and 71,537  being female. In Second year basic education. number of students  is approximately 61 thousand  of whom 2731 are males while58 thousand are females.He believes that the most appropriate way for the eradication of illiteracy is to unite the efforts of everyone with the authorities and  in the forefront are the official bodies, political parties and civil society organizations to support and adopt program of literacy and adult education classes. Participating in  openig  of various classes for adult education. Stressing the role of international organizations and regional organizations in support of plans and programs of literacy and adult education in order to achieve the minimum of what is required.
