http://www.english.hadhramaut.info Yemen has not been and never will be 'terror safe haven': Al-Anesi [The Source: www.sabanews.net - 28/12/2009]  Head of the National Security, who is director of the Presidency Office, Ali Muhammad al-Anesi has said the pre-emptive strikes at al-Qaeda in south and north Yemen proved that Yemen has not been and never will be a safe haven for the terrorist organization He criticized the media over dealing with the strikes, urging accuracy and correct information about the security affairs in the country.In an interview with the mouthpiece of the ruling party al-Methaq Newspaper, al-Anesi said the operations in Abyan, Sana'a and Shabwa were successful and thwarted big terrorist plots against domestic and foreign targets in Yemen.The would-be attacked targets included the British embassy in Sana'a and foreign schools and terrorists had also planned to assassinate military leaders, he noted.At the ends of the past two weeks, counterterrorism forces carried out successful operations against al-Qaeda hideouts and training sites in the three provinces killing and arresting scores of terrorists.There were 64 killed suspects and other 29 suspects were arrested.In the first operations in Abyan and Sana'a, the number of the dead was 34 and the arrested were 29.In the second operation in Shabwa, about 30 terrorist suspects were killed. The dead in all operations included leaders.Few days ago, two suspects were identified among the dead in the Shabwa operation.The two were Abdul al-Monim Salim al-Qahtani and Muhammad Aldjadni Aldgari.Meanwhile, Shabwa governor has said further raids on terrorists in the province are due and rooting out terrorists is on track.Tough measures have been taken to thwart plots and kill terrorists anywhere in Shabwa, he affirmed.The recent operations were followed by intensive hunts for al-Qaeda suspects across the republic.
