In his speech in the 14th session of the States Parties in the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) held in The Hague, Netherlands, during the period from November 30 to December 4, 2009, al-Dhabi pointed out that Yemen is one of the countries that call for making Middle East a free area of mass destruction weapons as well as it is being among the first countries that signed the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) in 1993.Yemen represented in its political leadership takes a constructive policy towards these conventions and other, he indicated.He noted that Yemen's efforts and keenness on making the Middle East region free of mass destruction weapons is considered a clear evidence that it is a peaceful country, calling for gathering international efforts in this field.Furthermore, al-Dhabi held separate meeting with the OPCW's Director-General Rogelio Pfirter and the Director of the International Cooperation and Assistance Division of the OPCW Kalimi Mworia .He discussed with the OPCW's officials the bilateral cooperation between Yemen and the organization in fields of protection, assistance and cadres training as well as enhancing the national potentials in this field especially in the emergent chemical incidents
