The International Red Cross, the UN Refugee Organization UNHCR and the World Food Programme have each received 500.000 EUR (700.000 USD) by the German Government to enable them to deliver humanitarian assistance to those most affected by the ongoing military conflict between the army and the Houthi rebels.The sum comes in response to the call of the U.N. for providing aid to help more than 150.000 displaced in Saada and Amran.Responding to the urgent appeal on the matter, earlier the U.S., Britain, France and other foreign and regional countries provided millions of dollars in aid for the displaced.The army has been battling the Houthi insurgents supported by Iranians since 2004.The government has many times offered truces to end the conflict but they were rejected by the Houthis who continued to attack the troops, the people and properties.In the recent confrontations, hundreds of insurgents were killed, injured and arrested and many others surrendered as land an air strikes intensified against them in various areas of Saada and some parts of Amran.The troops also destroyed rebel weapons, positions and retook over many areas in the two provinces after riding them of the Houthis
